Introduction

Protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information is fundamental to the way PhoneGreetings does business. In undertaking this commitment PhoneGreetings has adopted a set of privacy principles in accordance with the National Privacy Principles.

Protecting your privacy
PhoneGreetings has systems and procedures in place to protect your privacy whenever we collect, use or store your personal information. We maintain strict procedures and standards and take all reasonable care to prevent unauthorised access to, and modifications and disclosure of, your personal information. We will take all reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse and loss.

How we collect your personal information

We collect most personal information directly from you via www.phonegreetings.com.au. The type of personal information we collect may include your name, e-mail address, date of birth and telephone number(s).

PhoneGreetings will not collect personal information unless the information is necessary for one or more of its functions or activities.

PhoneGreetings will collect personal information only by lawful and fair means and not in an unreasonably intrusive way.

How we use your personal information

PhoneGreetings will tell you the purposes for which we intend to use your personal information. We only collect personal information about you that is necessary to perform our functions and activities. If you do not provide this information, PhoneGreetings may not be able to deal with you, or provide you with a product or service.

PhoneGreetings may collect your personal information to:

  • consider your request for a product(s) or service(s);

Sensitive information

PhoneGreetings will not collect, use or disclose sensitive information about you unless we have your consent or unless we are legally required to collect, use or disclose that information. We will always explain the purpose for collecting personal information.

Sensitive information, as defined by law, is any information about a person's racial or ethnic origin, political opinion, membership of a political association, religious beliefs or affiliations, philosophical beliefs, membership of a professional or trade association, membership of a trade union, sexual preferences or practices, criminal record or health information.

You can request details about the information PhoneGreetings holds about you and you have the right to ask it to correct this information. If you have questions about PhoneGreetings privacy principles or you wish to know what personal information we are holding about you, you are welcome to apply for your details by contacting us through our website, www.phonegreetings.com.au.
Under certain circumstances, we may not be able to tell you what personal information we hold about you. This includes where:
  • it would have a unreasonable impact on the privacy of other individuals;
  • the information relates to legal proceedings with you;
  • the information would reveal our commercially sensitive decision making process;
  • we are prevented by law from disclosing the information, or providing access would prejudice certain investigations.
Privacy in employment
PhoneGreetings appreciates the importance of protecting the personal information of its employees. PhoneGreetings will comply with its statutory obligations with respect to the privacy of its Employee Records and Employee Health Information. In particular, PhoneGreetings will comply with its obligations under State legislation relating to the collection and handling of Employee Health Information.
The Privacy Act exempts all employers from the need to comply with the National Privacy Principles with respect to Employee Records where the collection and/or handling of those records relates directly to a current or former employment relationship between the employer and its employees. Nonetheless, PhoneGreetings is committed to providing appropriate privacy protections covering its Employee Records.

Changes to these Privacy Principles

This statement sets out our Privacy Principles. It replaces any of our other Policies to date.
